Global Connectivity and Long-Term Cost Savings with AWS WorkSpaces


American commercial real estate services firm Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (JLL) is the largest company of its kind in the world. It’s global workforce requires on-demand connectivity with security and speed in mind.


JLL needed a scalable VDI solution that allowed international associates to access key applications—on-demand, efficiently, and securely. 


JLL engaged AHEAD to determine the best fit for performance and cost. The AHEAD team identified AWS WorkSpaces as the best solution because of its cost scalability and ability to be launched quickly.

AHEAD developed and deployed virtual desktops to around 100 JLL users by leveraging Amazon WorkSpaces’ Desktop as a Service (DaaS) offering. The DaaS was designed to support efficient, scalable service and capabilities to improve agility, user experience, and service adoption.

Additionally, the AHEAD team developed a custom tagging function which, at the time, was not available natively through WorkSpaces. This allowed JLL to perform more granular cost reporting and management.

AHEAD also identified an area for cost-savings for JLL—the use of consolidated billing. With consolidated billing, AHEAD streamlines chargebacks to JLL based on their accounting needs, aligning spend reporting to the way WorkSpaces billing appears on their invoices.


The WorkSpaces initiative transformed how JLL delivers virtual desktops and applications to its user community by introducing a cloud model.

More than 350 global JLL users now securely and efficiently access applications and desktops with AWS WorkSpaces.

JLL continues to see cost-savings by engaging with AHEAD for consolidated WorkSpaces billing.
