Discover Financial Services (DFS) offers banking and credit products to people and businesses to help them better manage their finances. Since 1986, they’ve been committed to using innovative products and services to best serve their customers.
So when DFS had an initiative to develop a strategy that would provide Infrastructure as a Service (Iaas) across the corporation with capabilities, they came to AHEAD. Our experts suggested an infrastructure that would provide self-service provisioning, workflow automation, workload mobility, and request management.
AHEAD helped Discover with developing a strategy, multi-year roadmap, design, and deployment plan to align with their objectives for their desired hybrid cloud. DFS already had existing technology licenses and virtualized environments that also needed to be incorporated into the strategy to further leverage their function and investment.
AHEAD met with the DFS project team to
- Determine requirements and use cases for the environment
- Identify relevant technology and hosting platforms
- Understand the current state
- Identify service level requirements for the new and existing environments
- Rationalize architecture and technology alternatives including, AWS, vCAC, vCO, ServiceNow, Puppet, and Chef.
AHEAD subject matter experts then developed strategy deliverables by analyzing the viable strategy alternatives against DFS’s use cases and service level requirements, as well as documenting DFS’s current and desired state, providing a use case analysis, hosting platform decision matrix, architecture alternative analysis, and a hybrid cloud financial architecture analysis.
